Watch that Koptalk password

More minor lies from Dunk. This time about who you can speak to from Koptalk. He’s pretending that Emma (Becky Franks) is still part of the “staff”. She isn’t (and happy birthday today to your son, Becky) but this post is here really for a little bit of Oldham silliness.

Dunk, Ste, Emma, Katie and Smoove (graveyard shift) all have new messenger addresses for use on MSN / Windows Live Messenger.

We enjoy interacting with you all so we’d like you to add us to your contact’s list. Obviously it makes sense to add us incase you have any problems with the site or if you just get bored and want to have a natter about LFC.

The messenger software and the use of the messaging service is free!

We are only adding members to our contacts lists so we need to make sure you are who you say you are (when we receive your friends request).

Our existing MSN/Live accounts are no longer in use e.g. support@koptalk.com, katie@koptalk.com, editor@koptalk.com etc

To be added to our lists, simply email:

friendsrequest@koptalk.com

with your MSN/Live email address, your email address that is registered with KopTalk if different (if unsure, just let us know) and your KopTalk.com display name e.g. ST3. We will add your details to all of our MSN/Live accounts i.e. Dunk, Ste, Emma, Katie and Smoove.

WARNING

* We only use MSN/Live accounts that end @koptalk.com (all in lower case letters). If you receive a friends request from anything other than @koptalk.com this isn’t us. We also won’t approach you unless you have emailed us requesting your inclusion.

* We will never ask you for your password. If you use a password here on our forums that you use elsewhere on other forums then you MUST inform us so that we can change this for you.

If you want to use your own email address instead of a new hotmail.co.uk email address for example, go to http://www.passport.com and register your existing email address there first e.g. yourname@yourISP.com – after registration and after confirming your details, then download the messenger software from:

http://get.live.com/messenger/features

Remember to use different passwords for everything online e.g. forums, email accounts, messenger services.

It was this bit that made me laugh. Oldham’s already been caught out logging in as Johnny H – AFTER Johnny had left Koptalk. Now he’s giving out advice on passwords…

“We will never ask you for your password. If you use a password here on our forums that you use elsewhere on other forums then you MUST inform us so that we can change this for you.”

You can read it in different ways, but it really sounded like he was asking you this so he could take a note of your password before using it to hack into other services you use on the net.

It goes without saying – don’t use the same password on Koptalk that  you use for anything else.

I’m not sure he can get the passwords, as they will be encrypted even in the database. But on his forum he as an administrator can take contol over any account and post as them, as he did with Johnny H.

I don’t see why people should inform Dunk about using the same passwords other places. They could just be informed that they should change it. Anyone can change their passwords without his help.

How come “Emma” is not a Koptalk Towers anymore? Think i must have missed something.

  3. Dunkin' Donut Says:

    Hansi,

Even if the password field on the database is encrypted, its easy enough to decrypt if you are the sys admin. Alternatively, the password could be held in a non-encrypted field, which I would imagine is what Dunk prefers given his predilection for tyranny.

Rule #1: Do not assume your password is safe from prying eyes.

Rule #2: Dunk is a fat thicko who harbours secret desires to be a woman. (Not really a rule, more like a statement of fact).

  4. rupertinsider Says:

Not to put too fine a point on it – he is pimping them.

Why would a football site give out the MSN addresses of two teenage girls?

He has a low opinion of his members. He believes that they are desperate enough to make multiple visits to a site where they can get direct access to females. I think he’s right in the case of RichT and one or two others.

Its all part of the technique of converting an interest in football into something else.

Its just unfortunate that the fat thicko picked on LFC for his sleazy site. He tried Mancdhester Untied and didn’t get too far, and he failed in his attempts to start Toon, Spurs and Forest sites.

So we have to uproot the pimp and get him out of the LFC neighbourhood.

    ____________

    Same here… 😐

  6. Call the local press Says:

    Hi

    A couple of points.

    1. How would he change the password if he didn’t have access to them!

    2. Have you got the press involved? Watchdog, the Echo, the Post, one of the Nationals – this is a pretty good story for someone.

    Keep up the good work.

  7. s.k Says:

md5 and sha1 are what most passwords are stored in, they are pish to decrypt… 😦

if you mean on KT, its unbelieveably easy, as a webmaster you have to the mysql database, so all you need to do is encrypt a password to the desired encryption method and enter it into the database via phpmyadmin then you are done.

  9. kraptalk user Says:

ooooh, look at Mr Smarty Pants, S.K. 🙂

So in other words he can steal the passwords and use them to gain personal info. Isnt that an infringement on the Data Protection Act? I would advise ANYONE who has had their passwords hacked from this loon to inform the police ASAP.
Wonder how he would get on in Walton? Probably be someones bitch the first day of arriving. 🙂

  10. Red Lion Landlord Says:

Bummed into madness probably. With Big Dave trading his arse for Panini stickers and Curly Wurlies come the weekend.

  11. Barry Wom Says:

a long time ago, i had forgotten my password, so i emailed Oldham to ask him to reset it. He emailed me back with my password … not one he had reset it to, but my original password. The passwords on Koptalk are not encrypted, so everyone really needs to make sure they NEVER have the same password on koptalk they have on anything else they use.

    Any clarification on this?

  13. An Observer Says:

s.k – bollocks, they aren’t easy to decrypt given they aren’t encrypted in the first place, they are one way hashed thus the only way to get the original is to brute force it.

Also your method of changing the password wouldn’t work because his software uses a seed for it’s password, he would probably just use the option provided in the software to change peoples passwords.

  14. Insider Insider Says:

Emma was due to start at KopTalk one Monday. After her identity was published on here, that didn’t happen. It seems she realised that Fat Dunk’s Soft Porn Empire was not the sort of place she wanted to work at.

I don’t doubt whatsoever that an “Emma” will start posting on Koptalk again soon, but like “Jordy”, it’ll just be fatty himself posting under that alias.

“He tried Mancdhester Untied and didn’t get too far, and he failed in his attempts to start Toon, Spurs and Forest sites.”

Is this true? How do you know?
    Did this pre-date KT? –
    Why did the attempts fail?

  16. Koptalksucks.com Says:

    Spursarmy.com and upthetoon.com

  17. Insider Insider Says:

“Shocked lurker” – He once called himself “Mr Manchester United” as a bit of a publicity stunt. He claimed he had changed his name to that for charidee. There was never any actual proof that this had happened though (e.g. a photo of a bank book or some other official document showing the name change). I don’t personally know of him actually starting a Man Utd website.

He owns the sites upthetoon.com and spursarmy.com as mentioned above by koptalksucks.com. See http://whois.domaintools.com/spursarmy.com and http://whois.domaintools.com/upthetoon.com for details.

The Forest site is something he mentioned himself last summer.

The reason the Spurs and Newcastle sites closed down is because he’d based them on the same software he’d been using on Koptalk, “FusionBB”. When the people from “FusionBB” were warned that Oldham probably hadn’t paid for a licence for the software for three sites he suddenly closed the other two down.

For a while the Spursarmy.com site had an icon of a blue liverbird.

He used to pretend that the Newcastle site was run by somebody else, but it was just him, pretending to be someone else as ever. He once claimed he was sending the then 16-year-old Steve down to London to interview people for the job of looking after the Spurs site. This was around the time he was claiming he was about to buy Chris Waddle’s house overlooking Liverpool’s Melwood training ground. Yes – the Chris Waddle who has nothing whatsoever to do with Merseyside.

It’s all in the blog, but it’s way back last summer. Do a search and see what you can find.
