Koptalk give up on video clips and streaming

According to this page on the Koptalk “info” site – http://www.koptalk.info/goldclub.shtml – you get a whole host of features if you shell out £20 CASH (it’s an extra tenner if he’s got to put it through his bank account) and join the Koptalk Gold Club.

I’ll not list them all here (again), but there’s a few I want to look at.

First of all this – “Your own FREE P.A. when you go on holiday – We’ll call you, SMS you, fax you, email you, major LFC news as it happens!”. I need to do some more checking, but it seems that the important part here is “We’ll call you”. Not with LFC news though – with threats. Work through this est1892.co.uk thread for more information on that.

One thing that really entices people into parting with their money is this little set of so-called features –

  • Links to video clips including every LFC goal usually within minutes of full time
  • Secret *links to FREE online audio commentary when available
  • Secret *links to FREE online live video footage of LFC games when available (99% of games covered in 2005-06)
  • Secret *links to FREE LFC video downloads for your iPod, PC etc when available. Some games can be downloaded in full!

Obviously he’s not the only site offering these things, you get this kind of stuff everywhere, but Koptalk is the only Liverpool FC website to charge for these features. On other sites where you get links it’s just member posting the links, nothing organised or guaranteed, nobody trying to make money out of it. So why is it a chargeable feature on Koptalk? He has a “video” section and a “streaming” section on his site. So, legal or otherwise, is the service itself worth paying for?

Doesn’t look like it to me. “Within minutes of fulltime” certainly wasn’t the case for the goals yesterday. Remember that yesterday’s game was a 12.45 kick-off due to it being one of the Sky Pay-per-view games. Still no goals at ten past four…

I’m sure someone will post links soon.

——————–

Pardon? “I’m sure someone will post links soon.” Duncan – they are paying you to post the links – and within minutes, not hours. You promise it to them in the sales pitch you give them. All those 20 quid notes sent in envelopes through the post to you are for that reason above all else for some members. Do as you promised or give them their money back.

Dunk was eventually saved by one of his members, who just provided links to other websites where the goals were available…

All 3 goals on You Tube

So that’s what he means by the video clips then. Rip-off, pure and simple.

He did post some clips himself though. The ones that we can all get ourselves from the BBC’s website. Twenty quid for Dunk to tell us that the BBC have some video clips of interviews on their website.

What about the streams then? He says, “Secret *links to FREE online live video footage of LFC games when available (99% of games covered in 2005-06)

Looks like the 99% figure won’t be repeated for 2006-07…

Any help would be much appreciated,

Everything removed due to some problems.

Some people are still posting some info here and you should be able to find what you need if you check but everyone needs to do a bit of self help now.

That’s exactly what everyone needs to do now. If you want streams of LFC games, have a good look around the net – there’s nothing on Koptalk that can’t be found elsewhere. Another service Dunk needs to take off that list if he’s going to make it reflect anything like the reality of the true Koptalk Gold Club. Keep your money if you were planning to join just for that reason.

A few members did try to help each other out – again the sort of thing you see elsewhere on the net…

Still working fine, they claim to have plans to upgrade to h264 codec but not done it yet.

Some people have changed to TASS because they use the h264 codec already and stopped using LFO

lfo are now using this codec and despite the split in the camp as talked about by Red Al some time back they are still streaming matches.

Tass is excellent though. Been using it since the last day of last season. Thanks for that Al! They have so much on including 17 channels on a Saturday!

Have you had a birthday card off Koptalk? Or other types of mail? How about phone calls? Don’t forget to read that est1892 thread I mentioned at the top.

  1. Lindsay Says:

Just made a complaint to trading standards about what people are paying for…..the email address is trading.standards@northtyneside.gov.uk so lets all get complaining.

The more people who feel ripped off that complain the better, especially if you have been banned and paid for a membership.

  2. Fred Says:

KopTalk has nothing left to offer. It has become a freak show and Dunk is the main attraction – the only reason I’m still a member is to witness his ludicrous behaviour first-hand. I’ll be amazed if KT still exists this time next year.

That phone call threat from KopTalk is definitely worthy of a blog entry in its own right. I’m astonished. He’ll land himself in big trouble with this new tactic – I’m definitely not an advocate of violence, but it stands to reason that if he continues threatening people in this way that he will upset the wrong person sooner or later.

  3. rupertinsider Says:

Yesterday, YNWA, DURING the match – it was possible to download clips of the goals within minutes of them being scored. They were very high quality. They were taken from a Norwegian/Danish/Dutch TV station and provided by a member on the current match thread. Other links were provided before and after the match. And I noticed the same links were being given out on other sites – all FREE and all well before any of the KT members were offering links. Why anyone would even log into KT and plough through all the bullshit (let alone pay to do it) when other sites are so much better organised and efficient – puzzles me.

PS I noticed the KT references to LiveFooty. I found ti very good the previosu tow weeks but yesterday I think someone was away. It wasn’t workiiing very well for me – and clicking on the Everton game eventually brought a buffered transmission of the Manchester game.

  4. rupertinsider Says:

    Fred:

“That phone call threat from KopTalk is definitely worthy of a blog entry in its own right.”

I know Insider is looking into it carefully. He has already responded in the EST 1892 thread where it was first reported.

The first questions if it is true, were the calls (because there were more than one) from someone related to KT?

The second question is what should be done about it.

Whoever has done it appears to be engaged on a campagn of harrassment, including threats of a serious nature. It is certainly a matter that can be dealt with by the telephone companies involved. It could also be dealt with by the civil courts. And it may be a criminal matter.

The third questions is how to prevent it. Assuming the calls were made by KT – the first measure is to stop providing KT with personal information. Oldham’s demand earlier this summer for email addresses that are not public services but on personal or company address begins to look even more sinister. His demand for personal information was always strange. If a person still wants to use KT, after these peculiar demands, then they should complain to the Data Protection people and Fair Trading.

Contributors to this blog have been threatened by Oldham – by threats that he will physcially attack them, that he will set lose his “underworld friends” on them, that he has agreement with the police to monitor them. As Insider has noted, the idea of threatening players with exposure – whether Fowler or Crouch is not strange to him. Journalists have received abusive and threatening calls from him. He has recently implied blackmail when he said that Rick Parry wants to meet him because he has something Parry wants. He has threatened to talk to “top brass” at LFC about those officials at LFC who have warned him to stop stealing copyright and stop making false claims about access to LFC.

In the past, when his lies have been exposed, he has made wild accusations against his critics that they have encouraged the kidnap and rape of his 8 year old daughter, or they are attacking his sick, so-called cousin – Lauren. The forums of kraptalk.com were spammed by abusive posts which many believe were inspired by him and may even have been authored by his mother.

The theme of threats, blackmail, physical abuse, snitching to employees, wild accusations is part of the ethos of Oldham’s world. If these latest incidents are from that world they would be part- and-parcel.

This blog has defined Oldham as a petty-thief when he started on the internet, a con artist operating under many names and a persistent liar. We have provided persuasive evidence and analysis.

    « on: August 21, 2006, 01:11:18 PM »

We’ve apparently got 6 new youngsters. From what i’ve been told some of the youngsters maybe on loan/trial. The youngsters arrived at Melwood over the weekend and started training this morning with the reserves.

It should be pointed out that 1 of these youngsters is in fact Nabil El Zhar, mentioned in this forum http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=139011.0, he was ment to arrive several weeks ago but St Etienne would’nt release him until a compromise was made.

Two of the youngsters are Spanish.

I will update this when I get full names of the players and were they have come from.

And a note to KOPTALK, if you take this info and put it on your site you will pay. Copyright ©

  7. Mitja Says:

If you want to watch Liverpool games online, download sopcast and when a Liverpool game is on just turn to channell Guangdong sports. They’re allways showing Liverpool, Arse, ch€L$ky and Scum.

  8. Andy Says:

I’d be happy to post the addresses of the free sites which show live streams of Liverpool games and those from which you can download the goals shortly after they are scored.

It would be useful to show curious or disgruntled KT subscribers who visit the blog that they can get all this stuff for free, but I understand you may be reluctant to do so because of legal considerations.

Feel free to delete this post if you feel it’s not the sort of thing you want to be associated with.
