More features removed from Koptalk's software.

More features taken away from Koptalk users. Is the server such poor quality that he has to take actions like these? Or is he trying to stop people find more evidence against him? He deletes posts for no reason sometimes, other than he’s said something in there which maybe he regretted.

FAO Dunk: Change to the site’s search feature?
#1564446 – Sat Jul 22 2006 08:26 PM

Why has the maximum date range on the search been changed from 2 years to 1 day?

This effectively means that we can no longer search for posts.

Has this been done for any particular reason?

We’re making changes on all the sites every day. For example, we did that yesterday but added the Games Arcade. Everything will be in order for the new season. We’re just tinkering to get stuff right

Hopefully they’re just working on it and it’ll be back to normal soon.

Anything other than that and it’s a bad, bad move.

Full searching will return. We’re just enabling and disabling things to see what’s best and to see if the server can handle things.

Have a question. What more features will the new software (PHP BB ??) have over that one ? I feel UBB Threads rocks mate … from a user’s point of view anyway. Dabbled with the free site and found it less exciting than this one.

Anyway, does it gives you much more admin usability ?

The general feedback seems to be that people like this software so I’m considering not converting to anything else as I had planned. Moving to another format would be very time consuming, it would be a big gamble and people would probably not like the change.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Looks like his plan to use FusionBB on multiple sites after paying for just one licence has backfired after all. That’s what it looks like, maybe it’s not the case, but that’s what it looks like. (New users may not realise that the owners of the FusionBB package were warned that Duncan had installed the software on more than one server, and to check that he’d actually paid for it. Although they said they knew all about Dunk’s plans, it’s likely that they didn’t know about his  real plans. And now they’re keeping an eye on him.)

The sad thing about him breaking the search function is that many of his users use that feature to remind themselves of insider information posted on the site, real or not. Without that facility half of the fun will be lost. Another nail in Koptalk’s coffin, but Dunk Thinks He Knows Best.

Is this the same Roscoe from the free forum? He’s not happy at the censorship anyway.

I’m being completely genuine.

I’m a mod on the free site, but every time I post something even slightly argumentative the thread gets deleted. I’d love to know who hasn’t got a clue how to Mod.

Well maybe it wasn’t her …this time.

I posted saying that Rafa had made some mistakes and the thread got deleted shortly afterwards.

It’s funny though because nowhere in the AUP does it say that you can’t criticse Rafa. Mods should know the AUP inside out and be aware of the value of freedom of expression.

Anyway, that’s my bit said. I’m off to the free site.

Maybe one of your fellow forum members hijacked it. And don’t start on Shelley. No need for it.

Nobody would have a thread removed for criticising any LFC manager or player providing it was constructive. That would go against everything I believe. I’m all for negative or positive opinions of the team and the staff. That’s the whole point of the forum.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

And when Dunk can up his hits with plenty of negative stuff about Liverpool he’ll jump straight in there to do that. Just don’t say anything negative about him – which might be what Dunk means by “hijacked”.

If you remember, Rosco of the free forum came on here and complained that you spelled his name with a final “e”.

But he is from Ireland and, I think, Dublin – so it looks like he adds the “e” on the Insider. His complaint that the mods on the Insider don’t know the AUP as well as he does is also typical of his “barrack room lawyer” approach – although he is studying law, not yet even finished the prelims.

Don’t you love it when Oldham adopts his wise, even-handed editorial tone. With the wisdom of Solomon he defends the right to be critical, but constructive, of LFC. You’d never guess his “book” is to be entitled “Anfield Exposed”. You need your Offical Translator of Oldhamese to understand what he means. It means: “yes I and the posters who I protect are bitterly negative about directors, manager and players – but it is constructive” – like his and Brendan’s year long mockery of the “Lurch” , like his two year long stalking and slander of Fowler, his bitter ongoing sniping at Parry and Moores and the Official Site. Not to mention the contempt and personal bitterness he shows to members and posters who are constructively critical of him and his site and, as in Tom’s case, the lies he tells when poeple object to his banning of them or eleminating their posts and threads.

  2. SteveO Says:

The books claims for be called “Anfield Explosed” the “the name is not yet decided”.

Such a name suggests it will tell us some details on the goings on at Anfield, however the website suggests it is just the story of some fat dodgy satcard scam artist and how he moved on to scamming people with his website and ironically then book.

Just noticed his celeb endorsement, I wonder if they know about it.

“VIP readers of KopTalk include the likes of Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Kenny Dalglish, Ronnie Moran, Roy Evans and Gerard Houllier plus loads more! Everyone of them will of course be reading Anfield Exposed, will you?”

  6. silentbutdeadly Says:

is anyone able to tape these podcasts?

  7. silentbutdeadly Says:

    scrap that, seen it.

  8. univofchicago Says:

did anyone notice fatty talking about the “fucking ian cotton”?

that letter by cotton has defo pissed him off…hahahahaha.

  9. Insider Insider Says:

Is he saying that about Ian Cotton on the podcast or in writing somewhere.

I’ve downloaded the podcast file, I listened to the first 6 seconds then switched it off again. I’ll be dealing with it later.

I’m going to upload it to another podcast hosting service first though.

If anyone wants to review it then please do so and email your review to me. It’s unfair to make me listen to it. 😉

  10. rupertinsider Says:

univof chicago: any chance of an email address?

    rupertinsider@gmail.com

  11. rupertinsider Says:

He didn’t say “fucking Ian Cotton”. He asked Steve about a press story. Apparently the inaudible Steve said that “Rafa was just responding to stories in the Spanish press”. Oldham then said “fuckin ‘ell…you sound like Ian Cotton, that’s how he talks….he was only responding to stories in the press…”

I listened to some of the pod until my computer decided that was enough and crashed. I didn’t know he had a pod. I can now add it the growing number of outlets for his disgusting world view. My qeustion is why did he have to attach himself to LFC?

Im sure Kebab shop owners (or was it Pakistanis?) would be amused by his oafish attempts to characterise them.

He showed remarkable restrain (or strong memory of my criticism of his reading and emapthy for the girl rape stories on his radio show) in not reading every wordof the George Michael in Hampstead Heath story – he managed to get that story wrong, too.

I do think he is out of control. The only person he talks to is hs 17 year old dependent who is trained to echo him.

The horse says he’s meeting Dirk Kuyts agent tomorrow in Liverpool.

Feyenoord have until Tuesday to accept our final offer. They had not made a decision either way up until yesterday.

The horse says he has to be at Melwoods training facilities on Tuesday afternoon and needs to know what is happening with Kuyt before then.

I will be at the stadium tomorrow as part of the adidas link up and will try and obtain more news.

  13. The Oracle Says:

What an imagination Dun…the informer has.

“I will be at the stadium tomorrow as part of the adidas link up and will try and obtain more news.”

    I’m sure you will!!

    LOL

  14. Insider Insider Says:

He didn’t say which stadium though did he? Or which Adidas link-up.

St James’ Park will be his destination tomorrow, for the unveiling of Damien Duff at Adidas-sponsored Newcastle United.

  15. univofchicago Says:

oh ok. my bad. i was half-asleep when i was listening to the podcast…hahahaha.

rupert, you can just ask insider-insider for my email.
