More false claims about original news sources

More fantasy island stuff from Mr Koptalk himself, Duncan “Economical with the truth” Oldham.

If you read this from late last night, you’d think that Dunk had scooped Guillem Balague for the information about possible interest from Anfield in the goings on over in Italy due to the recent high-profile relegations of top-flight sides.

Benitez confirms Juventus interest
#1551141 – Sun Jul 16 2006 12:08 AM

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he is considering making an approach to Juventus.

KOPTALK recently reported that the boss was looking closely at the Juventus situation and that was soon backed up when Guillem Balague stated that David Trezeguet and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be considered by the Reds if Juve were relegated.

Ideally Rafa would like to bring in Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt but it would appear that he hasn’t got the money to do this. As a result he’s having to look at other options.

“All the Juventus players are good players,” said the boss.

“They will be a better price now than they would have been three months ago.

“There are possibilities for a loan arrangement.

“If there is a good player and he is professional, that is not a problem for me.

“Trezeguet is one who would be a good player for us.”

NOTES:

1) When Gerard Houllier was in charge at Anfield, Trezeguet went on record saying that he would love to play for Liverpool one day.

2) Juventus winger Mauro Camoranesi was also linked with us recently.

So, did Dunk really beat the respected Spanish journalist (and friend of Rafael Benitez) to the news? Erm, well, no. What did you think? We’ve trawled through all of Dunk’s misleading headlines since the end of June, and some of them are so vague that you have to read the article to find out what he really meant. All we found was this, an article where Dunk claimed to have already known what Balague had just said on Five Live that morning, before he’d said it. Maybe there is an article somewhere, but it’s hard to find stuff on Dunk’s site. No search facility, misleading headlines. We also had to read his comedy pieces on how he was moving to Melwood soon. And the piece where he promised loads of photos and videos from the first day of pre-season training at Melwood. Did anyone get to see any more? No, neither did we, just the one of Gary Ablett that he took from the top of a purple wheelie bin.

Here’s what Dunk said on July 11th…

Liverpool’s Juventus raid on standby
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is waiting to see what happens in the Italian match fixing scandal before wrapping up several other transfers.

Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio are all facing relegation and Rafa is snooping around Juve in particular.

The Italian champions could be relegated to the third division if found guilty of trying to influence the appointment of match officials for games during the 2004-05 season and an exodus of their players will take place if they are sent down.

Credible sources have been reporting to KOPTALK for some time that Rafa has been looking much further afield than the English and Spanish markets and that names not previously linked to us could pop out of nowhere while everyone’s concentrating on the likes of Dirk Kuyt and Jermaine Pennant.

At the weekend Spanish football expert and close friend of Rafael Benitez, Guillem Balague stated that Rafa was looking at players at the clubs caught up in the mess.

Sadly we couldn’t get his quotes on as earlier as we would have liked. Some of you emailed us asking us to cover them on the site but we needed to wait for the transcripts. This is what he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

He said: “We still need a striker for Liverpool.

“There’s been some names linked from the Spanish first division but there is some other players from Juventus and that includes (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic and (David) Trezeguet.

“Rafa is thinking or waiting to see what happens to them before he tries to get them.”

Because Balague said “we”, he was jokingly pulled up by the presenter because it sounded as if the Spanish expert was working for the club…

Balague says “we” because he pretty much is a Liverpool fan. He’s got his favourite Spanish club from childhood, but read interviews about his feelings for the Reds and the fact he’s spent a lot of time working in this country and you’ll know he’s as passionate as most of us. More passionate than Dunk in fact, who’s a Newcastle season ticket holder and enjoys finding or creating tabloid style rumours to discredit LFC and the players.

Anyway, nothing major, just wanted to let anyone who didn’t know it that fatty has not had any inside information about Liverpool and any Italian-based players.

I’m prepared to be shown an older post from Dunk that pre-dates all of the other comments from Balague if anyone’s got one. I don’t think I can take any more of Dunk’s nonsense NewsNow fiddling headlines for the next hour or two.

It’s simple; Dunk covers all bases. He links us to Torres, David Villa, Kuyt, Joaquin, Defoe etc etc.

When one pops up in the papers he claims Koptalk had revealed in first.

  2. fat_boy_fat Says:

    Agreed Chunky.
I think the only striker Dunk hasnt linked us to since the last transfer window is Gary Lineker! He has thrown so many darts over what striker is coming, he has been invited to join the sky sports darts championship………… well he has got the belly for it anyway!

  3. fat_boy_fat Says:

Just thought of a new section! Maybe we could have Predict what insider Gossip Oldham will spout next 🙂
I say this because in the Gold club, someone posted that Parry has said an announcment on the stadium will be due in the next few weeks. The Dunk screen name hasnt popped up in the thread, so expect either today OR tommorrow a new Thread by the fat one that goes like this :

Just got off the phone/got a email from my source thats close to Parry. HE can confirm that Rick wasnt lying yesterday about the fact the stadium saga has took a new twist. My source HAS confirmed to me what has happened, but i dont wish to publish it incase it scuppers the deal/ will reveal my sources identity. The source also confirmed that this news will come out in the NEXT FEW WEEKS.
Ive have also sent a copy of the email/telephone converstion to several Mods so they can back this up later.

SO there you go thats what it will look like………….. well WOULD have looked like, because the fat asshole wont dare post nothing like that now, because it will prove that point.
If we can second guess his lies, then he will struggle to post them.

i wrote to newsnow and didnt hear anything back, i said something along the lines of “how is it possible that every article wrote by koptalk today has gone into the top stories, half of them are misleading headlines and are not even liverpool related”

fckers never got back to me

  5. Adam Says:

So from what fat_boy_fat says the “subscribers” are paying for the mods to have inside information

  6. Insider Insider Says:

If we can second guess his lies, then he will struggle to post them. – Good idea, impossible to do. Who on earth could have predicted him saying he was going to buy Chrissie Waddle’s home in Liverpool?

Actually, on a serious note, I saw on another site earlier today that somebody had said Rafa had gone straight from the game yesterday to fly abroad, destination unknown, to speak to a player. Either Spain or Italy.

Will Dunk put this on his site when he finally gets his fat lazy arse out of bed? Not now we’ve pointed it out, I’m sure.

Thanks Alan – you aren’t the first one to point this out, so maybe we need to do something about it on a bigger scale. If people can get me some examples, the headlines and what was actually in the story and so on, I can ask them a question, and give them a chance to respond “officially” on the blog.

  8. rupertinsider Says:

They never reply to me either. But I do notice that they feature less of his headlines for a few days – but as I said it may be a coincidence.
