WARNING: Koptalk users should check their paypal accounts

If you’ve seen the light and scarpered from the fatboy’s insider, make sure you aren’t still paying him. Check your paypal account as soon as you get chance. Despite how he’s worded things below, he’s set up his paypal billing request for the insider as an automatically renewing annual subscription. If you don’t spot this when you sign up then you’ll be charged every year, even if you’ve long since left the Sun-lover’s website –

I have been billed more than once!
#1529197 – Wed Jul 05 2006 05:46 PM

You will have been billed again because YOU haven’t administered your PayPal account and subscription properly. If you signed up via PayPal, THEY automatically renew you each year on your behalf. It clearly says this on their sign-up page when you join.

We DO NOT apply for this payment manually.

Basically if you want to cancel your sub you need to log-in to your PayPal account (you obviously need to have paid via them) and cancel your subscription with us. Then you will not be billed again.

You may also have been billed if you have upgraded to the Gold Club and you have forgotten to cancel your previous Insider sub. Again you need to cancel the first subscription by logging into PayPal.

If you renewed early – because you didn’t know your autobilling was active – you need to cancel your first sub. Again you need to cancel this by logging into your PayPal account.

If you wish to continue as a member we can either extend your membership period or refund you back to PayPal.

Should you have any problems, please contact us via www. koptalk. info
Post Extras:

If anybody is successful in getting a refund out of the Scarborough boy then let me know. Don’t all write at once, the gmail system could struggle with the demand.

    Very funny indeed!

  3. barry wom Says:

fuck me. is he taking the piss with that? it’s quite incredible a small message board to talk about some footy could have quite so many rules. he must sit there every day thinking of things to add.

it’s also quite incredible the bit about the user being wholly responsible for what they post. so he gets members to post copyrighted material of highlights, so if someone tries to prosecute him over it, he passes the buck right onto the poor sod that has been providing _his_ chargable content. fuck me, it’s like being a drug dealer and getting some poor scrote to handle all the gear and take all the risk, while you take the profit, sit with you feet up in a mansion overlooking melwood, with a merc parked outside.

  4. rupert Says:

I think Fatso is getting very close to consumer fraud – setting up an agreement with PayPal and his customers to have memberships paid repeatedly after the customer has withdrawn membership or had their membership cancelled by Fatso – or “double-dipping” when he charges two memberships in the cases where someone has “upgraded” from Insider to Gold Club” and forgets to cancel the first.

The entire idea of selling false information is an illegal scam , as is his claims that information lifted from other media outlets is Exclusive to paying members of KT.

But this PayPal payment lark is bare-faced.

Does he do the same with bank standing orders?

  5. Will Robinson Says:

Zis doz not apply to vot Herr Brendan callz the “Irish muck slaves” or hiz sneering at the “WELSH” – zis is a scientifc fact and acceptable koment. Plis do not read anyzing inkorrect into the fact zat most of zee players Herr Brendan analyses as stupid hafpen to be black. He is allowed to koment on ze facts of life. Likevise – Ryan is only joking ven he refers to “English cretins”.

Furthermore, and notwithstanding the foregoing statements by the party ov the firzt part rezpecting the obligationz of the parties of the zecond part – ver vos I ? Ah yes – we – the the ownerzs of Kopf Tok – are not bound by zese rules. Zomebody has to stand up for the Faderland uddervise there would not be any English left in our streets and London vud become the cesspit of Europe.

    Long live ze Queen!

Ve are proud of vat we do for leetle vons – ask Stevie – he has vorked for us since he vos 15 – he vorks 18 hours a day vidout pay, but ve gif him unresticted accez to porno. Zo put dat in your pipes and smoke it – bloggers!

    Koptalk is shite. Fact.

How long before he starts charging the poor old Spurs fans?

  13. rupert Says:

“How long before he starts charging the poor old Spurs fans?”

As soon as he can fiddle the cash from LFC supporters to pay for the licence to use the same BB Fusion software for the Spurs, Newcastle and Forest sites.

(His plans have been put back by this blog – as you can see he tried to set up those other sites on his KT licence – forgetting to change the colours, and the liverbird symbol, in some cases. But someone from this blog tipped off Fusion BB so now Fatty has to find the money first).

Just checked my paypal history, and indeed the cheeky fucker had set my paypal to a recurring charge. Dunk is a cunt. Blog that.

  16. willrobbo Says:

    Oops… somebody’s Wiki’d Koptalk! 😛

  17. kopwank Says:

Is it worth checking into the paypal settings a bit more?

I’m SURE that by default they do not take repeating paypals, infact I’m sure you have to explictly set this up. He’s saying it’s clearly stated on the signup page which may be true, but if he had no intention of recharging for ‘lifetime’ membership why do this in the first place?

It’s obvious he wants people to forget about it and rob em for another £30..

  19. The Platinum Club Says:

Someone’s Urban Dictionaried it as well.

  20. Whois Lookup Says:

People are getting billed annually because it’s been set up like that by Dunkin’ Donuts. He could set up all payments via Paypal as one off subscriptions. He’s chosen not to.

  21. rupert Says:

If there are any UK based lawyers reading this – is there any chance of (a) getting some kind of class action suit going against him for this PayPal scheme? (b) anyone want to take on a test case in the smalls claim or other court (c) is there a quick and easy method of getting a government agency to look into it – consumer protection?

  22. scully Says:

It happened to me recently – I was going to let my subscription lapse (what a dumbass for paying in the first place, eh?), having become disillusioned with the site, but then lo and behold £14 was whisked out of my account. At no point whatsoever was it explained to me that payment would be automatically made like this. The guy is a cunt and it fucks me off that he is buying his S*n, porn and booze with MY money.

  23. rupert Says:

Ok any lawyers or officials or knowlegable persons who could give good advice on here to those who have been charged for membership when they were not members are double charged for Insider and Gold Club membership?

What steps should they take to get their money back while preserving their legal options?

  24. univofchicago Says:

Koptalk Wikipedia! Nice and objective. That is awesome news!

Though won’t be surprised if fatty starts infiltrating the site any time soon.

  25. Neil Says:

Exact thing happened to me. I foolishly joined his Gold Crap when it was first mooted, mainly because I’d made a load of good mates on there who were all joining and I didn’t want to miss out chatting with them (yeah, I know!!). Anyhoo, I’d decided not to renew cos it was just bollocks and was waiting for my membership to run out. I then find I’d been billed automatically by PayPal. I never checked that PayPal at any time cos joining that shower of shit was the only thing I’ve ever used it for. Worse still, the money came from a UK credit card (I live in NZ now). I didn’t know this, as I tend to remember when i’ve used my UK card. I didn’t pay the bill for 3 months and was charged £20 late payment fee 3 months running plus interest at about 25% on the £26. Fucked off? You bet I was. I emailed and asked for an explanation/refund but (as we all know now) got no reply. You thieving fat cunt.

  26. univofchicago Says:

“you must not represent yourself as another person”

that is the best part. hahahahahaha.

you must not NEVER EVER represent yourself as another person like pretending to be the “informer”, “the wallet” or some crazy inside source. setting up countless other aliases to make it seem that people are on your side.

you happen to be Duncan Oldham.

  27. rupert Says:

And don’t forget what he said last week – that Duncan Oldham is not his real name.

  28. The Platinum Club Says:

Well either it is his real name or his wedding menus were faked.
