Duncan Oldham humiliates himself during the Noel White saga

On Friday 27th November 2006, an unnamed Liverpool FC director was quoted in The Mirror newspaper making derogatory comments about Rafa Benitez (you can read the original piece here).

Martin Lipton’s article caused uproar on LFC forums and debate raged as to who was responsible for the anonymous quotes. The prime suspect was Noel White, who had been on the Anfield board for 21 years.

But Duncan Oldham thought differently. His famed (ie non-existent) “insider” sources pointed to the mystery man being someone else, so he made the following post on KopTalk:

It will all be played down. I think you’re all way of with NW.
It has surprised me about having a go at Rafa as he can only do what the directors allow him to.
My take on it is that it’s all to do with investment. I know that some directors, especially one, has been frustrated at the offers Moores has turned down.
I would ignore the slurs on Rafa which I think is to help mask the director in question. If it was just about finance (in the press), I think he’d be identified.

In the KopTalk podcast on Monday 30th November, Oldham reiterated his point:

“I don’t think it’s that person that they’ve been suggesting. I think it’s all tied in to do with the frustration over investment. This person wants the current board out.”

I’m expecting an update on Tuesday/Wednesday from those in the same circles as THE anonymous director. It’s been confirmed to me who he is and it’s who I thought. It IS to do with investment frustration and an agenda to turn up the heat on Parry and Moores.

On Tuesday 31st November, Noel White admitted he was the director who had been quoted and tendered his resignation.

Oldham had been shown up, yet again, as a liar, a fraud, a pathetic bullshitting con man. He had proven, yet again, that he has no “insider” contacts within LFC, that they are merely figments of his imagination which he uses to cynically scam Liverpool fans out of their money.

When most of us make a complete arse of ourselves, we either hold our hands up and admit we were wrong or hide our faces in shame. But not Oldham – no matter how many times he gets found out, he can never admit he was wrong. So, as always, he just kept on digging himself into a deeper hole:

I’m not sure. But I know there’s another.

There wasn’t “another board member who could be chopped”, of course. Oldham had once again proven beyond doubt that he is a liar with no contacts at the club.
