What Makes Koptalk Tick? A speculative psychological profile of a Konman.

by Honorary Insider

(Edit: This is a blog. It should be open to a bit of tongue-in-cheek or “experimental” writing.

It’s also a blog with specific topic and a readership that knows it well.

But do we? Do we really know what drives Koptalk? We know it is the personal vehicle of Duncan Oldham – but do we really understand what makes him tick?

The following “confidential” psychological profile, discovered by Honorary Insider, suggests that there are bits in the corners of the sardine can we have not been able to reach. Take it with a pinch of salt – the post , I mean – not the sardine.)

Duncan Oldham Exposed

by

I make no apologies for paraphrasing the title of Duncan Oldham’s non-existent book – Anfield Exposed – as the title of this report.

A friend of mine works for the police as a forensic psychologist. She assures me it is nowhere exciting as the “Cracker” television series.

Sometime ago I asked her to look at Duncan Oldham, the sole owner of the Koptalk website.

We were able to do this simply by “borrowing” a Koptalk identity and password from a friend.

To avoid double log-ins they added each other to their MSN friends list , so they knew when each other was on line. It was helped by the fact that the friend in question was on a different continent in a completely different time zone. (Duncan, you really must look at your site security sometime!)

Initially, my friend did not want to know from me anything about Duncan Oldham because she did not want to work from preconceived ideas.

Her initial observations (made over 3 or 4 weeks on his website ) were as follows:

1. Duncan Oldham is a pathological liar. He would not know the truth if it met and greeted him in the street. A pathological liar is someone who must lie to sustain his ego. Eventually, he starts to believe his own lies.

In Oldham’s case it is evidenced by his delusions of grandeur – the buying of properties overlooking Melwood , themed hotels in Liverpool , country estates in Yorkshire, get-away vacation homes and investment properties in New York State and his entry in his MySpace profile where he claimed to have an income of £250,000 p.a.

2. “Dunk Knows Best”: He actually believes this! He thinks he is cleverer than the tax inspectors , the trading standards officers and the charity commissioners – and certainly more intelligent than the members of his website.

( In reality it would take a tax inspector about 20 minutes to unravel his accounts . They are trained forensic accountants who have come across every hide-income subterfuge known to man).

3. He does not like women, or is at least fearful or wary of them. This is probably due to some inadequacy in his sex life. In short, he may not be too hot between the sheets.

4. His evasiveness. She sensed a definite tendency to hide something – or lots of things. She suggested it indicates a degree of guilt which she has seen many times in petty criminals

5. He is intensely proud of his site. It’s probably the only success in a life riddled with failures – business, marriage etc.

6. When I asked her “would you be happy buying a used car from this person?” she replied “I would not be comfortable buying a used wire coat hanger from this individual”.

She was puzzled as to why he treats Steve McNeish so badly, and also about his failure to boycott the S*n or support the HJC – so at that stage she asked me for some background information.

I gave her a potted history of Koptalk from its start as a News Group through the formation of the website proper and then onto the Gold Club.

I mentioned in passing that Stevie was, in fact, Duncan’s step-brother. At that point she went “Whooah—tell me more! Where is Dunk’s Dad?”

I told her that his father ( a police officer – presumably in one of the Yorkshire police forces) had tragically committed suicide in the distant past. She nodded her head. “Yes, it all makes sense.”

She rambled on a bit more using technical terms, before leaving to complete her analysis.

A week later she returned with the complete profile in which she had added to her previous opinions.

It is confidential, but I managed to make a few hurried notes:

Profile: Duncan Oldham – Relations with Steve and Jeannette McNeish, Steve and Duncan’s Fathers, the S*n and the JJC

Conclusions

1. Duncan hates or resents Steve for the following reasons:

(a) Steve’s dad replaced Duncan’s dad in the life of their mother Jeannette McNeish.

(b) Steve’s dad is alive, Duncan’s is not.

2. Duncan’s refusal to boycott the S*n is a defence mechanism. Publicising the S*n and McKenzies’s lies has the effect of deflecting the blame from the South Yorkshire Police. This in turn diverts any reflected slight on his father, who may have been in that force at some time.

Alternatively, he feels he is defending the good name of the police, in general, and his father, in particular.

3. The HJC blames the South Yorkshire Police for the tragedies at Hillsborough. For the reasons already given, Oldham cannot or will not support the HJC.

4. His alleged criminal activities - charity scams, fake memorabilia etc. (And this is where it gets really bizarre folks). Dunk sails outside the law as revenge on his father for committing suicide. The analyst suspects that although it happened so time ago, he is still bitter about it. Yes, undoubtedly he loved his dad dearly, but his shady activities are revenge on him for leaving what she suspects was a vulnerable child without a father.

The Informer is back stealing an Ayala story

In the early hours of this morning, Spanish newspaper AS added a story to their website that Ayala was unwilling to sign a new contract and looked set to leave Valencia on a “Bosman” free transfer this summer. Amongst others the article spoke of interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

At 10:07 this morning another site not worth listening to most of the time – Tribal Football – decided they’d report the story too, with a headline of “Liverpool, Chelsea eyeing Valencia freebie Ayala”.

After frantically chasing tumbleweed around his pathetic remains of a website Duncan Oldham found the story too. At about 4.00 this afternoon. He liked the story, but couldn’t just report it. So he decided to use one of his aliases instead – “The Informer”.

Is anyone still gullible enough to believe that “The Informer” is anyone other than Dunk? (Well RichT replied saying thanks, so I suppose there are still a couple of very easy targets for Dunk to focus on.)

Rick Parry is negotiating a deal to bring Roberto Ayala to Liverpool. He’ll be out of contract in June. The horse says Benitez would like him in January but they wont pay silly prices when he’s free in the summer.

People pay £30 for this! You get it for free.

LFC fans pay £30 to provide their own news for Konman

Kop Talk owner Duncan Oldham has lost so many members from his site that things are getting difficult for him. It’s transfer window time and hardly anyone is showing any interest in doing one of the things that always helped him. Finding stories for him to use.

Dunk reads the S*n, takes anything they report about Liverpool and reports it as his own. He gets away with this because Liverpool fans don’t, and won’t, read the S*n. It’s banned from the homes of all good Reds. Dunk has it delivered every day, as he admitted in the summer. That’s not me making it up – he told all his free site members in the summer about it. Most of our readers already know this, and so I’ll not go into that any further – if you’re new have a look around the blog for more.

Dunk was made to look an idiot over the weekend when he decided to try a bit of bluffing bullshit over Peter Crouch. “Crouch is being offered to other clubs” he proclaimed. In the papers that weekend were quotes from Rafael Benitez saying that Crouch was most certainly not for sale, and hints that the boss thought it was Crouch’s agent stirring up trouble. The Liverpool Echo included a story from Chris Bascombe talking about this, and also a big story about the DIC takeover moves – but Dunk doesn’t get the Echo in Wallsend, and Saturday’s stories don’t get put onto the internet.

In fact Dunk hates Chris Bascombe, because Chris talks to the players and staff at the club. He gets genuine exclusives. He actually sits in the press box at matches too. Bascombe spotted David Villa at Monday’s win over Bolton, sitting in the director’s box, and dropped in a throwaway line about it in the middle of his match report. Dunk didn’t know about it for a couple of hours, even though one of his members had mentioned it in a post on his site. When he did hear about it he dressed it up and turned it into a story designed to draw gullible potential readers in. He fiddled News Now (for the last time, using yet another loop-hole in their “technology”) and got into the top stories.

By tea time he was reflecting on how useful it had been for one of his members to feed him that story. Steve’s getting bored now with having to be Dunk’s lackie, especially since Dunk’s had to stop providing him with freebies in lieu of wages. Steve’s probably looking for a job now. Katie doesn’t understand football, and would only find stories related to LFC if they appeared in Hello or OK, or in the 3am column of the Mirror (and the S*n’s equivalent, if they’ve got one). Dunk has no members with insider information. He never had any contacts. This snippet, along with his cheating, got him to number one on News Now – he wanted more.

So he decided to beg his members, those who pay £30 each to get access to all of his “features”, to become his newshounds…

If we have missed some LFC news that we think we should cover, please submit such details in this forum. Simply open a new topic in this forum or click here –>>

Include as much info as you can about the news you are reporting including links to such items. For example you find something of interest on a mainstream website such as the BBC, maybe we haven’t sourced them just yet for you or for some reason we’ve forgotten to add it. Simply submit the info in this forum and we’ll check it out for you.

Everyone that submits an item, whether we use it or not, we will be entered into a monthly draw for LFC prizes.

Every item you submit to us you increases your chances of winning because if you submit ten items, we’ll enter you into the draw ten times.

Prizes will be for LFC DVD’s, LFC books etc. We’ll announce on the forums on February 1st who the January draw winner is, that is if anyone takes part!

We used to run the same thing on koptalk.com before we were members only and it was a great way of keeping everyone in the loop.

Your actual submission (what YOU type in your post) won’t appear on the site as all posts need approval as this is not a discussion forum.

It’s laughable in so many ways. First of all you expect these paying members to submit multiple stories, each, and in return they’ll get put in a draw to win one of your old LFC DVDs or books. They keep your pathetic site going (you hope) in return for a second-hand book. So generous of you.

Then there’s the paranoia. You won’t let any of the submissions actually be seen by other members, because there’s a risk it will point somewhere you don’t approve of. Like any other Liverpool FC website, because all other LFC sites mention you being a Konman and being anti-LFC. In fact it’s amazing how many places do mention you and your scams. And all other LFC websites are now better than yours, if they only have a forum, they have more members than you and better discussions. You need the stories, but you can’t risk anyone defecting, you’ve hardly any members left – and most of those are biding their time until their subs run out.

Asking people to provide news to you! You are supposed to do that for them. You are there to save them having to use News Now and the like to find stuff. Come on Dunk – what do people actually get for their £30 now? They’ve got to provide their own news as well as find their own streams for football (you don’t offer it yourself as you claim “on the outside”). They get no insider information whatsoever. Not a bean. 90% of topics are started by you or one of your family, and most of those are extremely boring. The ticket competitions suddenly disappeared yesterday too (although we do know why). What do you get for £30 now?

In fact anyone reading this still in support of Dunk – can you tell me what you get for £30 that isn’t available for free somewhere else?
