WARNING: PayPal – Koptalk raids accounts twice in 6 weeks.

by Rupert Insider

paypaldevil2.jpgA number of readers have written with more or less the same story. It goes something like this.

They bought a one year’s subscription to Koptalk for £26 or £30 and paid through PayPal.

Within 4-6 weeks Koptalk withdrew another year’s subscription for £26 from their PayPal account.

When the reader contacted Koptalk to complain they were referred to a “low priority” support ticket that was never answered.

In some cases, they took the initiative to write several emails, which went unanswered.

They tried to telephone Duncan Oldham, the sole owner of Koptalk who receives all the monies paid in, mixing business, charity and personal revenues in the same account. But he was not contactable.

In some cases they telephoned Steve McNeish, the 17 year- old step-brother of Duncan Oldham and so-called “Editor”.

He greeted them casually, in the manner of someone who had heard it all many times before. He agreed it was a mistake but smoothly suggested that since it was now done, why not just leave it so that, in effect, they would be paying subscriptions two years in advance! Then he changed his mobile number – again.

Some who wrote to us had already cancelled their membership in Koptalk before the second payment was taken. All have cancelled it now.

Some complained directly to PayPal about a fraudulent transaction and in some cases PayPal refunded their money immediately.

It appears that some who wrote to us did not understand that when they first subscribed, Koptalk had set up the transaction in such a way with PayPal that there would be an automatic renewal in one year for £26. When they found out, usually from this blog, they cancelled the automatic renewal.

But that does not explain the second payments taken in 4-6 weeks of the first.

Those were not annual automatic renewals. In fact how Koptalk managed to get them from their PayPal account is something of a mystery. Some of our readers are trying to find out from PayPal. We will report when we get the details.

In the meantime, please be WARNED.

All the stories have variations. The following is one particular story we received today (we have hidden identifying details which we have on file).

You will note that a second year’s subscription was taken from their account within six weeks of the first. It seemed to be triggered by their decision to cancel their first subscription!

It’s not unusual in Koptalk rip-offs that the victims are from outside the UK, as in this case.

This is a young couple in an isolated area. It is not cost-effective for them to call Steve’s mobile number or to pursue Oldham through the UK small claims court – and of course he knows that.

However, even UK subscribers have fallen victim to this particular scam.

Readers of this blog will know that we have printed several warnings about PayPal renewals to Koptalk. If you don’t know how to cancel yours please consult this article which gives a step by step guide.

“Don’t Let Koptalk Pick Pocket PayPal ” Click for article.

Check your PayPal account. Cancel any automatic renewal to Koptalk (use the instructions given in the article).

Also check to see if there have been any unauthorised withdrawals by Koptalk. If so inform PayPal and demand repayment. Also inform Koptalk and demand repayment.

Keep copies of all correspondence and a diary. Let us know what happens. In the UK a Trading Standards officer is monitoring Koptalk. Therefore, Oldham has a big incentive to give you back your money.

We will protect your privacy, if you wish. The two people who wrote today gave us permission to use all their information because they do not want others to be ripped off. But even so we have hidden some of the identifying details they gave us.

We would like to thank them and urge them to pursue Oldham for the money he has taken from their account without permission.

What do Koptalk’s headlines lead to?

Just to keep to the “promise” of trying to make sure you can judge for yourselves whether Koptalk’s “insider” bullshit is worth paying £30 for, here’s the latest. Note the headline designed to attract attention too. It’s about Lucas Neill, the player who the whole world knew nearly became a Red last summer.

Try not to laugh at “Koptalk understands” or the way he sounds oh-so-knowledgeable about the way contracts work. Having never kept to one himself, implied contract or actual legal document, it’s no wonder he doesn’t really understand the concept: “…permission would need to be obtained which usually means that a fee would have to be agreed first. That though is up to Rovers.” Usually? A fee has to be agreed or he stays. If the fee is actually a zero fee then that is still the agreed fee to get the player to leave. Dopey.

Liverpool will make a formal approach to Blackburn Rovers within the next few days for Lucas Neill.

KOPTALK understands that Neill’s agent Peter Harrison made contact with Reds chief executive Rick Parry yesterday (Wednesday) to arrange a formal date to discuss a possible transfer as part of the formalities.

The player does not need permission from Rovers to discuss a possible summer transfer as he’d be out of contract by then so he’s free to negotiate a pre-contract from January 1st.

However, as Liverpool want to sign Neill next month, permission would need to be obtained which usually means that a fee would have to be agreed first. That though is up to Rovers.

Rovers are still seeking £1.5million for the player but they would take Stevie Warnock in a direct swap deal. That though is unlikely and we’d also be surprised if we paid anywhere near £1.5m for the player.

Liverpool are in the stronger position but the key to the deal will be the amount of pressure that the player puts on Rovers to leave. If he fails to force Rovers to release him, the player knows that come the summer, Rafa would have other options.

Paddy Dominguez, who works for Neill’s management company, has confirmed that Liverpool are still in for Neill. He also claims that Barcelon and several other clubs are chasing his client.

Dominguez said: “Liverpool remain very much in the frame but they are by no means the only team to have shown a strong interest.

“Lucas has made very clear his decision to move on and people will know what the destination is early in the New Year.

“Lucas has been a fantastic servant to Blackburn over the past five years, but he now has an opportunity to realise his dream of playing at a top European club.

“In addition to Liverpool and Barcelona, several other big clubs are interested, so we’ll just wait and see.”

Meanwhile, the fat conman who seems to have made himself a profit from his Alder Hey appeal, reported this story…

Posts: 26916 It’s been confirmed that Steven Gerrard’s daughter Lexie was taken to Alder Hey hospital on Christmas Eve due to a mystery health scare.

The 8-month old baby was rushed to hospital following a sudden increase in her temperature and was kept in overnight for observation.

Lexie was rushed to hospital a couple of months ago in a meningitis scare but that turned out to be a suspected allergy.

Rumours of the hospital visit had been doing the rounds but until it was confirmed, we thought it best to leave this off the site.

Let’s hope little Lexie returns to full health soon.

Alder Hey. Yes, the hospital which treated Steven Gerrard’s youngest is the same hospital Dunk seems to have skimmed some money from. The scumbag must be so proud.

And as for “rumours” doing the rounds? More likely that Oldham read the story as it appeared on news sites this morning. As usual though the persistent liar had to invent a bit to the story, hoping his members would think he was in the loop over such things. Also as usual, the persistent bullshitter with the goldfish memory had forgotten how he’d told us in the past he kept in contact with Steven Gerrard on a regular basis. I can’t remember if that was before or after he told us the name “Duncan Oldham” wasn’t his real one, which of course would have made the wedding menus from his wedding to his estranged wife and deeds on his home all fake too. Pillock.

He read the following story in the Echo, but has to put a headline on designed to get some attention….

Liverpool have received an informal enquiry regarding the availability of Gabriel Paletta and Salif Diao.

Spanish La Liga outfit Gimnàstic de Tarragona have approached Rafa Benitez about the possibility of signing both players on loan in the near future.

Diao’s loan spell with Stoke expires in a few days time and believe it or not, he’s been playing some decent football at that level and it’s likely that they will try and secure his services.

Paletta is in need of some experience if he is to succeed in England so a loan move to another English club would make sense. However Rafa could be tempted to loan him out to Gimnàstic for the second half of the season.

Also new to Koptalk today, from the site with all of its claims of insider contacts, is the story that hit the rest of the net yesterday. But they didn’t have Dunk’s “knowledge” added in. Dunk found out about this from his copy of the Mirror, I can only assume his copy of the S*n didn’t have any LFC stories in it…

Further reports today claim that Atletico Madrid are prepared to offer Liverpool £14million for midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Alonso has been identified as their top target of 2007 with Atletico sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch boasting that they have a good chance of signing the player.

It’s obvious that the Atletico interest is genuine but the player isn’t for sale. £14million though would certainly make the boss think but Xabi is one of Rafa’s favourites and providing D.I.C. come in, the boss doesn’t need to sell.

Finally, for now at least, is this request from one of Dunk’s few remaining gullibles. Assuming it’s one of his gullibles and not someone reeling Dunk in, again. Also assuming that this prolific poster (18 posts) isn’t actually Dunk trying to force some activity out of the last few members…

Most annoying member? Best reject of the year? Best pie award?

I’d like to hear your suggestions for categories for this blog. Most prolific liar? Most original kamikaze post? Funniest kamikaze post? Dunk’s most outrageous lie, most despicable lie, funniest lie, far-fetched lie (etc). Dunk’s funniest way of showing the blog doesn’t bother him at all honest. Any other categories, but best of all some nominations. I don’t think I’ll be able to do it as a vote, but you never know…

DUNK: Where are those receipts for Alder Hey?

LFC squatter doesn’t like taste of own medicine

Duncan Oldham says that this blog doesn’t bother him. He loves the negative publicity because he says there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

He tells anyone who listens how the publicity has done him no end of good. Book sales and memberships went through the roof in the summer, he claimed.

Funny how this surge in memberships was followed days later by the closure of his “free” sites. (“Free” as in no membership fee, not “Free” as in “free speech”). Maybe he Konned a few leftover free-site visitors into paying for his pathetic £30 members’ “service”, but I’d hardly call it a surge. The vast majority of the posts made in there are from Dunk, ST3, Katie and Rich Tea. We get to watch the increasingly sad Rich Tea make a fool of himself with his chat-up lines to Katie. Even he’s started posting less now, realising perhaps at long last that the text message he uses as the basis of his faith in Dunk was actually a fake one. Most of the posts on Koptalk now are from 3 or 4 particular members and the rest are from Dunk, his aliases or whichever family member he’s Konned into helping out. Often times  a thread consists of Dunk saying something dull, then replying to himself as “Koptalk.com” half an hour later, before Katie steps in 20 minutes later, followed by “ST3″ (actually Dunk).  People paid £30 for something they could get for this!

As for the book – well I really can’t see many people forking out the £5 deposit for the book that doesn’t exist, and has failed to exist ever since it was first announced three or four years ago. Not after reading here about this being the case.

The book was promised by Dunk before the start of the new season, but he later changed that to “by the end of the year”. He later changed it again to “by the end of the season”. That’s all well and good, and we look forward to it, but unless he’s got the presses rolling as we speak it looks like we’re all going to get some free memberships to his site…

What book

I guarantee that it will be out 2006 or FREE Gold Club memberships for everyone for life lol!

I just need Steve to get his arse back.

S0, four days (including today) to get the book out Dunk. Or it’s “FREE Gold Club memberships for everyone for life”.  LOL!

We look forward to it, we’ll have a lot of fun with our free memberships.

One of the reasons this blog has been a success is because nobody likes a bully. Dunk has been an internet bully for years now. Anyone who stands up to him is banned from his forums, and in the past any forums who allowed members to speak the truth about him were threatened with legal action. He’s also taken great pleasure in buying alternative domain names from other LFC sites and pointing them to his own sites. See Cyber Squatter on here for more about the numerous names he’s taken.

As with all bullies, the thing they really detest is a taste of their own medicine. It’s threats of legal action against him that are probably behind his recent 9-day pretend visit to New York.  As for the domain names, his excuses in the past included “I bought them to protect them for my fellow Reds” or some such bullshit. He later admitted that he bought them because those sites had allowed members to speak the truth about him (although he didn’t put it that way of course). Funny though, when someone did it to him he didn’t like it at all. www.koptalk-insider.com’s secret owner (not connected in any way to this blog) got the following email…

Dear Customer,

We are contacting you regarding the possible cancellation of your

Kindest Regards,

Rene Saenz
Office of the General Manager

(Remember, this blog doesn’t bother him, he loves the free publicity). I am quite happy to act as an agent for the domain’s owner in terms of the provision of contact details – please supply my email address, koptalk.insider at gmail.com as the contact, and my name, “Koptalk Insider”. My name, “Koptalk Insider” is real as the name provided above, “Paul Harper”.  And I’d also point out that PO Box numbers don’t really count as postal addresses for legal matters so he needs to provide something better for that too.

It would also be interesting for Dunk to point out how the term “Kop Talk”, differs from “The Liverpool Way” and “EST1892″ and other such LFC terms he’s stolen the domain names for. “Kop Talk” refers to conversations amongst Liverpool fans  on the most famous stand in world football. The term “Kop” is used at more than one ground for the home end, and has been since the turn of the last century. If anyone took a trademarked term illegally it has to be pointed out that Duncan Oldham started using the term “Kop Talk” for his site after he’d seen the success of the premium-rate phone service (and, later, a website) called “Team Talk”. I’d be interested in seeing the outcome of his legal actions against anyone using the term “Kop Talk” – because he’ll then be open to the same judgement for his many stolen “trademarks” too.

And he’ll need to skim a lot more money out of his dodgy charity appeals to pay those costs then.  We’ve still not seen a receipt for the Alder Hey appeal. Not one. Perhaps if you send an email to him you’ll have more luck than we have…
