So, after waiting 12 months or more, Rafael Benítez has finally got his man – Dirk Kuyt is a Red. (I am going along with the idea his name is pronounced “Kite” by the way, not “Koit” or “Koat”, for the sake of the post’s title!) Or at least he will be today when the formalities are completed. He could even be in the squad for tomorrow’s game against Sheffield United.
Koptalk, with its claims of all kinds of insider contacts, didn’t know any more than anybody else. They followed the news like the rest of us – reading the Echo website, reading the official website, looking out for information from other (not Koptalk) websites to see if they knew anything.
Dunk knew nothing. And we’ve been able to prove this time and again. The lack of insider knowledge within Koptalk is just one reason not to buy a subscription to the site. One of many. He has no contacts.
Someone reminded him about his gateman. He didn’t respond. (Last month he’d claimed he’d bribed a gateman to provide him with news on comings and goings at Melwood. He hadn’t, he’s a liar.) The reminder of the gateman lie came on Wednesday when it had been reported everywhere that Liverpool were pulling out all the stops possible to give Kuyt his move to Anfield, and when it had been reported Feyenoord had already allowed Kuyt to chat to the club about his possible move.

100% for him signing
We’re still waiting for your gateman to feed us with info.
How about some photos Dunk – from Chris Waddle’s house perhaps? This was at lunchtime yesterday. (Dunk claimed last month that he was considering making an offer on Chris Waddle’s home outside Liverpool’s training ground.)

Not Dunk, obviously. He’s not even near the training ground. What about his Koptalk photographer? He never had one really. And he’s gone back to using stolen photos on his website again as you’ll have spotted.
All this money for the insider site yet not a bit of advanced information. Until, wait, some news on the medical…

Oh, I see. It is “insider” information, from someone with a contact or two at the club, but it’s not from Koptalk, it’s from another website. We found that thread on the TLW website, didn’t cost us a bean – http://forum.liverpoolway.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36105
Still, at least Dunk’s mum has been trying to cheer Dunk up. She’s just remembered he doesn’t support Leeds any more, like he did as a kid…

So there you are then. Exclusive. Dunk’s mum thinks LFC will win the league. That’s the only contacts Dunk has. His family. Who all live between Scarborough and Newcastle.
Koptalk is dropping off in member numbers. Dropping off in moderator numbers too as former moderators start to see how they are assisting the dodgy Del Johnson. A member wanted to know if he could discuss the missing members. Or would the dictatorship prevent such crimes and criminals even being mentioned. Can you guess what the answer was?

#1608574 – Thu Aug 17 2006 02:21 PM Thx for the “Gold Club Etiquette”. Nice to see you address some of the issues that has been a priority this summer. Seeing that I was on vacation in July, I’m still trying to figure out what the hell happend and where so many of the oldtimers are.So here is my question:
Are we allowed to talk about former members of this institution and what happend over the summer, or is that a strict “no go”?
I hope the question is in order!

It’s not right to talk about anyone who isn’t here. We had been receiving complaints for some time that some members, particular Honorary Members, were getting out of hand. A handful of friends didn’t it when we took action and they opted to leave. No drama at this side of the fence, it happens. I’ve seen it before on the main site and we’ll see it again. People get close which is great but when the majority suffer, we have to break up cliques that flout the rules that exist for the benefit of everyone. It wasn’t popular with a few people but the feedback I have received is that things have greatly improved. That’s about it really. Despite the claims, I don’t think anyone was banned. If they were, it would be a couple at max. People ban themselves, we don’t ban them. Life goes on
“Despite the claims, I don’t think anyone was banned.” Hmmm. As far as I’m concerned, you are either allowed to join in or you aren’t. If Dunk has taken steps to stop you from joining in then you are no longer allowed to join in, and so are banned. It doesn’t matter how you dress it up – “locked out awaiting the provision of details” or “honorary membership taken away” – a ban is a ban. Any reputable site would have a way of allowing anyone treated in this way to complain to management – but that’s the dictator himself at Koptalk, so fat chance.
Dunk has taken one step towards allowing people to leave support questions on his forum. He’s allowed them to leave them secretly. As he says in his signature – “Need support? Please post a message in the ‘Member Support’ forum. Only KopTalk will see your message.”
That’s good in a way, some support questions I agree need to be confidential. It turns out though it will only be the ones that Dunk decides to make confidential that will remain that way. Red Del was one who asked a question. Dunk answered his question without showing the original question to other members. Another example of censorship, and surely if Del should be entitled to have either his original question quoted or to have his name ommitted from the answer. (And yes, this is the same Red Del with the video clips. He’s changed his password and we’ve decided not to publish the new one yet. As long as he doesn’t add any more clips for Dunk to use to sell his site I’m prepared to call a “truce” on the clips.) He was asking why threads get deleted. We all know why – because they show Dunk up to be a lying dictator. Red Del wanted to know what Dunk’s answer would be -

Thanks for the questions about why mods delete threads and don’t leave reasons. At KopTalk we have MASSIVE communities. We have the Insider forums, the Gold Club forums and the main site forums @ koptalk.orful/forums
It is impossible to post reasons behind why a thread was moved, deleted or edited. If we were to do that all day we’d never get any real work done. That is a simple fact. It’s just not possible.
Nobody gets a thread removed for the fun of it. Providing threads stay within the Acceptable Use Policy they don’t get pulled.
If people educated themselves by taking a few moments of their time reading the AUP, then they would understand.
None of us enjoy modding the forums but it has to be done. If we make a decision, follow it through and then explain it, we’d be there all day.
For example, if two people are exchanging blows on a thread it is better to delete it. Lock it and they start another. Start another and they are asked to cut it out. Keep posting new threads to continue their row and we just keep deleting.
If we were to create a post explaining why we removed their row, others who missed it then want to know what was in it so even more threads start and more people start fighting.
This is just one example. Nip it in the bud and 9 times out of 10, people leave it. I’ve been moderating forums for more than 10 years now and I have enough experience to know how to do moderate them for the benefit of the entire community and the people who moderate them.
Sometimes it is hard for forum members to really understand how hard it is for moderators to try and keep everyone happy. But at the end of the day it’s not personal because if it was personal the offending person(s) wouldn’t be here.
I hope that helps a little
This is the AUP which will soon be updated for the next season:
http://www.koptalk.disinfo/acceptableusepolicy.shtml
Need support? Please post a message in the ‘Member Support’ forum. Only KopTalk will see your message.
So it’s diffcult to leave a line saying, “Thread Deleted – Reason: Abuse of fellow member” is it? I know and he knows, we all know, it’s a piece of piss to be transparent about these things. Unless you’ve something to hide.
Like Milkman’s thread listing all the predictions made by Insider members about transfers. Dunk got all his wrong, so did his aliases. Guess what happened to that thread within minutes of it being bumped to the top. You can find the list on this blog, and someone also posted it on www.est1892.co.uk. So Dunk’s attempts to try and hide more proof of him being a bullshitter failed. Again.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell nowadays whether questions asked on Koptalk forums are asked genuinely by members unaware of the truth about Dunk, or if they are sarcasm. In some cases I already know because I’ve already been in touch with the poster, but not always. Take this one next, I’ve no idea if “Chewbacca” knows about Dunk’s upthetoon.coN site, but it sounds like he could…

Says Dunk who’s probably been there all afternoon pretending to be “Barry”. Not on his own Toon forum though – that disappeared a while ago and won’t return because he might have to pay a licence fee for it, and he doesn’t want to do that.

Gold Club Etiquette
#1608516 – Thu Aug 17 2006 01:50 PM
Over the summer we have shown that no matter who you are, the majority of the members must always come first. This season we will be very strict on the conduct of anyone posting in the Gold Club sections, not because we’re killjoys, but because we want to keep things sensible.Contrary to popular belief on other Liverpool fans sites, money isn’t everything. Quality is more important than quantity. We will not just accept anyone as a member and those who we feel are not respectful to their other members, will not be invited to renew their subs. We want to make this a place for mature discussions only.
We really want to promote and provide a mature and sensible area for Liverpool fans on the net. Some of our members here are in their 60’s and 70’s, some are under 16. We also have members from all walks of life and backgrounds. Because of this we need to ensure that we’re providing an environment suitable to all.
Over the summer we clamped down and we know this wasn’t popular but this zero tolerance will continue for the benefit of everyone. If you want a free reign, then this isn’t the place to be.
Football is a passionate support so we like to think that we understand from time to time that some people fly off the handle. People don’t get banned for anything like that, they only ban themselves if they continue to be abusive or ignore our polite requests to tame things down. The majority usually apologise (not that we want apologies) and by the time the next topic comes around again, people who were beating each other up with their handbags are friends again. That’s what it’s all about, right?!
We, more than anyone, love a laugh and a bit of banter, so nobody could ever say we’re politically correct or too sensible. The day we have to go all serious is the day we pack it in. But there’s a time and a place.
Please, please, please try and keep the Gold Club areas sensible. Let’s see plenty of on topical indepth discussions, less duplicate posts and no foul or abusive language.
The Insider sections are a bit more laid back but still, we don’t want the Zoo to be run by the animals
Under every post is a report icon image, it looks like this:
If you see offensive posts or something you want to notify us about, just click on that image. We won’t respond to you but we will look at the post(s) you have brought to our attention.
These communities are moderated 24 hours-a-day. We now have a KOPTALK member of staff browsing the forums 24/7 and there are moderators who also help us out. Moderators are fellow members like yourself and if anyone is abusive to them you will be ejected by the stewards
We really want the place to be buzzing and fun but we just want everyone to think about the bigger picture i.e. the whole community.
Another request is that you refrain from typing in ‘SMS style ling’. We have a handful of blind members who use word recognition software to read the forums.
We absolutely hate having to moderate the forums but it has to be done. We moderate the forums as we do for YOU. Foul and abusive language doesn’t offend us but it might offend someone else, someone at work or someone who logs on in the company of their children for example.
I would also like to be kept informed of any ads on the site (Insider section for example) that you feel are inappropriate. 99.9% of all ads displayed are provided by the ad agency and we don’t see them until they appear. Some ads we don’t see at all because we may be in a different country to you. But we can filter out specific ads if you give us feedback via the appropriate channels i.e. a support ticket, a call, MSN to Steve (support@koptalk.com) or a post in the support forum on this site.
The new support forum enables you to post a message privately in it for our attention so if you want to submit notes to us, you can do so that way if you don’t want to submit a support ticket.
This season we will introduce a freephone 0800 telephone number for Gold Club members. This means you will be able to call us for support completely free of charge.
When it comes to support, we prefer to speak to you personally. This is the best way to resolve any issues with passwords etc. We will call you wherever you live in the world. It’s never a problem, you only need to ask.
Please enjoy your time on the site and if you ever need assistance, never hesitate to contact us.
Now go and get some money on Liverpool to win the Premier League!
Etiquette? Rant more like. And as for this 0800 number, I somehow doubt this will be brought in. And if it is, well you’ll know what it is from us here.
And maybe we’ll be able to pass the number on to any authorities looking at Dunk. I need to go and find the email I got from someone explaining the rules on competitions, but there’s a good reason why big companies put the words, “No purchase necessary” into their competition entry rules. Unless I’m mistaken, Dunk’s breaking the law by not making the offer open to all. And the earlier competition he’s referring to was the World Cup one. He’s so amateur and lacking in organisation that he forgot to carry the competition on. Until one of his members reminded him…

NEXT COMPETITION!
#1607197 – Wed Aug 16 2006 08:17 PM
Right.. the XBOX 360 comp is still running so make sure you’ve entered (for Sheffield Utd) if you’re still elible (if you progressed from the last round)! Our next competition which will run alongside the XBOX 360, will start on 26th August (LFC v West Ham).
The prize on offer will be a multi-satellite receiver which can receive thousands of channels and feeds. You can connect this to a fixed dish or a motorised dish. The prize consists of the receiver, you will need the other kit i.e. dish, cable and any CAMs/cards (for subscription channels).
Members from the UK or overseas can enter but you must be a Gold Club member.
Finally, just a chance to read some complete bullshit from Oldham as a member asks the innocent question. “p7chu”, may know about the blog and all the reasons why so many left to join other sites, he may not. As I say above, it’s hard to tell nowadays. And if I’m finding it hard to tell, imagine how difficult it is for the Fat Controller. But the member asks a valid question – if Dunk has the contacts he claims to have, why did he fail to call the transfer before the nationals?
